Online safety is something which is going around local schools to make pupils aware of the dangers out there, but did you know there are also a lot of adults who don't know or aware of some of the dangers which are happening daily.

Even if you receive a phone call from someone asking simple questions about your phone or even offering an upgrade, unless they are from your current supplier then avoid giving them information as the information they have and the information you give them may open you up to being a victim to cyber crime.

Following these few rules should help everyone in their day to day life online whether at work, at home or even just casual browsing on your mobile phone.

  • Never give out information to people or companies you don't know
  • Avoid giving login details or passwords to people you don't know, if you have a web developer working on your site give them their own details under a restricted access.
  • Don't give any information to people who knock on your door
  • NEVER presume it will be ok

If they say they have information that you are with a certain company then more than likely the information you will be asked will be information they should already know.

If in doubt ask for their information including name, company name and also a company website as the majority of companies have a working website. Also get the phone number as this can also tell you if its a spam call already when typed into a search engine.
