How to open an Excel spreadsheet with macros

If you have a spreadsheet and it will not open for editing due to it containing macros then Office may have locked the file down for security.

Before you continue ALWAYS make sure you trust where you got the spreadsheet from as it could cause serious harm to your computer and the data on it.

  1. Make sure you have the file saved on your computer.
  2. Right click on the file and then click on properties.
  3. On the popup that appears then click on Unblock towards the bottom.
  4. Click apply and OK to save the settings.
  5. Re-open the spreadsheet
  6. Towards the top you should see a notification with the option to enable Macros. Click enable ONLY if you trust where you obtained the file.

You should now be able to use the spreadsheet as you intended.
